Search giant, Google is continuing its crusade on link networks after it announced last week that it was taking action to penalise networks found in Germany, Spain and Italy.
Google announced that the German link network ‘efamous’, another Germany agency network and Spanish and Italian-based link networks have also been targeted and penalised as a result of its crackdown on unnatural link building.
The efamous site indicates it “matches advertisers and publishers based on their targeting needs”, letting webmasters “easily reach a broad or niche audience”. The site offers “content integrations” services which basically equates to guest posts, product information, press releases and social media – many of which offer backlinks that have been discredited by Google.
Google took action against a number of other German link networks back in February and has now carried through its promise that there was “more to come”.
Google’s head of web spam, Matt Cutts has confirmed that link networks in Italy and Spain have been penalised too:
“We’ve taken action on Spanish and Italian link networks that violate our quality guidelines.”
Google’s action comes less than a week after Matt Cutts also warned that penalties for link networks were imminent. Businesses with websites in either Spanish or Italian languages who may have bought links in the past should now be proactive and submit a disavow link request to avoid any penalties.
Announcements of link network penalties appear to be becoming a weekly occurrence in recent months, impacting sites in multiple languages, not just English.
